Last year I made a decision not to compete at the European championships as I hadn't been focusing on wakeboarding at all due to studying for my Alevel exams. However, after getting my grades and deferring my University place for a gap year, spending the majority of my time travelling with some boat and cable wakeboarding, I was really excited about competing in Coleraine, Northern Ireland for the 2016 Europeans.
I had never been to Northern Ireland before so it was really cool to explore the coast and get a bit of surfing in on the days I wasn't competing. This was my first European contest in open women and the competition standard was obviously really high! The girls are all throwing really technical tricks now and it's great to see how far and fast the sport is progressing in Europe! I went out to Coleraine with no expectations so I was super happy to qualify for the finals after having good runs in the qualifying and LCQ. The finals however, I didn't ride so great but I'm still pleased to say I came 6th in Europe! All of Team GB rode really well and we secured a bronze medal in the overall team event!
This trip was another fantastic experience and despite the 'fresh' Irish weather we had a great time!
