Over the past couple of weeks I have been fortunate enough to attend two of the BWSW boat wakeboard development camps. The development camps are made up of three days intensive wakeboarding, consisting of 2 x 30min sets each day with off water training and tuition in between. Both camps have been beneficial as I've learnt how to foam roll different muscles before and after riding as well as new stretches to help my flexibility. It's also great to have intensive wakeboard sets on the camps with the top coaches in the UK. I've learnt a lot over the past couple of weeks and it has helped improve my riding loads! Thanks to Rebecca Dolan from BWSW, fitness coach Diana Wright, and wakeboard coaches Lee Debuse & Stewart Mackie for your help!
Recently my shoulders have been feeling quite tight so during the weekend of the cable nationals I booked in for a sports massage with Louise Carr, Extreme Sports Therapy. Louise is based at Core Performance Health Clinic in Bedford.
I've had a few sports massages with Louise now and I'm really feeling the benefit alongside using my foam roller and stretching. I'm really grateful for Louise's help to keep my muscles maintained during a hectic season of wakeboarding! Having fortnightly sports massages is something I highly recommend, especially before a big contest to relieve tension or after a hard week of training. Check out Louise's website here: http://www.extremesportstherapy.co.uk/author/loucarr/ With the 2015 Boat Nationals done the UK wake scene was looking forward to the 2015 Cable Nationals. I had been working so hard behind the boat with my coach Lee Debuse, aka LDBwakeschool.co.uk, that I had almost forgotten the Cable Nationals wasn't long after! AH! Luckily though, this year the Nationals were held at Box End Park, my home cable! This meant I knew the cable and course well so it wasn't going to be as nerve racking as it is competing at cables I haven't ridden so much.
This year I stepped up into open women and the riding level was tough! The girls were shredding hard and I was over the moon with finishing my run and taking 2nd place! The riding standard this year was crazy and it was awesome to watch! It was also great to see my UltraSport EU and Liquid Force UK team mates killing it at Nationals with Matt, Kieran, Jack, Joey, CK, Luca all making podium! The Box End locals also killed it and it was great for Box End to take the team scores overall second, just being pipped to the post by team JBski. During the Nationals I was interviewed by ITV news, check out the footage which was aired on TV here: http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/update/2015-07-25/uks-best-wakeboarders-battle-for-position-in-bedford/ |
